Environmental Stewardship + Sustainability
Our environment is our legacy. By committing to sustainable practices, we're ensuring that future generations can enjoy the natural beauty and resources Woodinville offers.
Key initiatives and upcoming projects:
Climate Action Plan: developing and implementing Woodinville's first Climate Action Plan as the City’s roadmap for sustainability to address and mitigate climate change impacts.
Tree preservation: maintaining Woodinville's Tree City status by protecting and planting trees, preserving our lush canopy including 53 wooded acres in our newest city park, Wood Trails.
City electrification: supporting the transition to electric city vehicles, installing charging infrastructure to reduce emissions and voting yes on installing solar panels at City Hall.
Salmon habitat restoration: securing federal grants to remove barriers along Little Bear Creek, promoting salmon recovery.
Advocating smart environmental policies: including eliminating all carcinogenic chemicals on City property, working with our local Master Gardeners and Pollinator Pathways NW advocates to take active measures toward protecting Woodinville’s open spaces and natural beauty.
New as of August 2025 Bee City USA® designation: celebrating Woodinville’s recognition as a Bee City USA community by expanding pollinator-friendly plantings, eliminating pesticide use, and partnering with local advocates to protect the bees, butterflies, and other pollinators that keep our gardens, farms, and green spaces thriving.
